Announcements for April 5th

Want to become a Dog Trainer?  New Trainer’s Academy starts April 16th.  Please see below for more details.

  • Thursday Night Class at The K-9 Clinic, April15th from 6:15-7:15pm.  Cost is $25.
  • New Obedience Classes start Saturday, May 1st.  Please see our Calendar for class times.
  • Recall Clinic (1) Saturday, April 24th from 3:00-4:00pm.  Cost is $75.
  • Down Stay Clinic (1) Saturday, April 24th from 4:00-5:00pm.  Cost is $75.
  • New Therapy Program starts Sunday, April  25th at 10:00am.  Meet at the K-9 Clinic. 
  • New Search Class(4of 4) Sunday, April 25th  at 8:00am. Meet at Aptos High School off of Freedom Blvd.

    Trainer’s Academy at The K-9 Clinic

    Beginning April 16th, we will be offering a Trainers Academy for those who wish to further their knowledge of dog training through lecture and hands on experience.   This first course offered will be Level One, the first course in a three level program, which teaches dog training techniques based on the K-9 Clinic’s innovative practices and methodologies.  
    The Level One Course is a two month program and consists of the following:

    • Basic and Intermediate obedience training
    • Equipment: what to use and how to use it
    • Agility training: The basics of getting a dog through an agility course
    • Teaching/communication skills and techniques when training a group or an individual
    • One-on-one instruction on how to work with inexperienced and/or young dogs   
    • Kennel operations and procedures
    • Preparation and organization on presenting demonstrations to various audiences/organizations
    • First steps on how to evaluate and determine aggression in dogs

    To enroll, you must complete an application that may be downloaded from our forms page by April 9, 2010.  Spaces are limited, and selections will be made by April 12th.  The total cost for the Level One Course is $1,500 and a certificate of completion will be awarded after successful completion of all program requirements.
